- Most notably, I started reading Homestuck. What an undertaking!
- I went to a bouncy house palace place and got slide-burn.
- I got my parents and sister to start listening to dubstep! (yay!)
- I was on a podcast called What Should I Read Next (it's by Anne Bogel)!
- After seeing many, many posts about a certain cartoon series on Tumblr, I decided to watch just one episode.
- I subsequently got super addicted. I'm going to spend most of my time ranting about this, Undertale, Homestuck, Dan and Phil, and Harry Potter along with many other things.
- Most of this blog post will be about Homestuck and that cartoon series.
So exciting! Much ye!
~Homestuck~
Wow. This is... a thing. I don't know exactly what to call it, because it's not really a book, or a comic, or a game. It's just... Homestuck. That's the only way to describe it. It's a modern Odyssey. Quite literally, thousands of pages. Imagine a vast Saharan desert. That's what it is, page-wise. It's the tale simply of a little boy wanting to play a computer game with his friends. But then it gets into things with imagination and blurs the lines between reality and dreaming, and what's real life or a video game, and what does it mean to be a chosen one, and... yeah. It starts very slow but then has a turnaround like you wouldn't imagine. It picks up SO QUICKLY. I had trouble following some of the plot at times, but it wasn't usually that hard. Usually. It's sort of like a collection of short stories in the same universe? But they really aren't? Ugh, it's hard to describe. But you should still definitely read it! (It did make me laugh out loud on more than a few occasions.)
~The Cartoon~
So it's called Miraculous, sometimes called Miraculous Ladybug. It's about a girl. She gets earrings and a magical fairy whom can be called upon to transform into Ladybug, a superhero who fights crime with a yo-yo and kills magic dark butterflies. Basically, it's a gateway drug into anime. Originally, it came out in France and Korea, but Nick is working on doing an English dub for us americans :D I've been mostly looking at the subtitled ones currently, although I listened to one dubbed one and it wasn't too bad. Oh, and that's not all: She fights alongside another person called Chat Noir (black cat in french) whom is actually Adrien, who is the son of a really rich businessman and who does photoshoots for perfume and such, who she also has a crush on because he goes to their school. But he doesn't want to get involved with her non-Ladybug form (a girl called Marinette) because he as Chat Noir has a crush on Ladybug, and he doesn't know they're the same person. Basically, it's complicated and cute and anime for people that don't watch anime. I love it.
It's easier to understand if you're watching it, really! The origin story hasn't been quiiiiite worked out yet, but you'll see. I have become a convert of the cult. Thanks, Tumblr.
Well, those are the new fandoms I'm in currently! Sorry for ranting and not actually posting, but I'm on spring break and should have time to actually post a post later in the week :D sorry for taking a break and happy to be back!
